Catering Team Award
Our Catering staff have won the prestigious “Catering Team Excellence Award”.

The award was given by Lancashire County Council for having the highest number of pupils choosing to have a school dinner in Lancashire.

Cashless Pay System
As part of extensive improvements to the dining experience at Bowland High, we have invested in a cashless catering payment system, which we believe brings enormous benefits to pupils and their parents/carers. This letter provides full details of how the new system operates:
Free school meals
- Once submitted, parents receive confirmation that their request has been received.
- Outcomes will be shared with the child’s school within 7 days.
Free school meals for all children in reception, year one and two
All children in reception and years one and two are entitled to free meals as part of the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal programme. This is worth up to £480 per year per child – please talk to your child’s school for more details.
Plus if you receive certain benefits, or have a household income below the Government threshold, register your entitlement with your area education office. Your child’s school can receive extra funding called the ‘Pupil Premium’ which is sometimes worth £1,455 per pupil to the school.

Claiming free school meals for older children
If you are on certain benefits, just ring your local Area Education Office with details of your name, date of birth and National Insurance number and they will let you know if you are eligible.

Packed Lunch
Pupils may bring a packed lunch to school with them. All food must be eaten within the main lunch hall and not outside or in classrooms.
Morning Breakfast and Break Time Snack
The school kitchen offers snacks both before school and at break. Pupils may also bring snacks from home. All food must be eaten in the main hall.
