Careers
Careers education is taught as an integral part of the PSHE programme from years 7-11. In years 9-11 the careers adviser takes an active role in lessons and provides guidance on an individual basis. In addition to work done in PSHE, all of our pupils have a Unifrog account which gives them access to a wealth of careers related resources. Once a week during form time all of our pupils take part in Future Careers Friday led by their Form Tutor.
Up-to-date information is available through the Careers Advisor. All pupils in Year 11 receive one to one careers guidance from an external Level 6 qualified Careers Expert. In addition to this guidance all Bowland pupils experience work related learning in a week-long placement with a variety of employers. Other meaningful encounters include:
- Attendance at the Ribble Valley Careers Fair
- Mock Interview Day
- Army Day
- STEM Tournaments
- Cyber Tournaments
- Day visits to local employers
- Weekly College Information – Y11

Personal development days
In previous years we have held our enrichment days at the end of the school year. The days are designed as a specialised, non-classroom-based curriculum week aimed at fostering personal development, independence, and curiosity.
Due to rising pupil numbers in school and significant increases to transport costs, this year we have made some changes to the days. Please see below:
- Increased focus on educational purpose of the days, particularly linking to pupil personal development
- Moving the days to end of June (29th June to 1st July) to access quieter times at venues less close to the summer holiday period
- Reducing 4 days to 3 days
- Reducing the financial input from parents as pupils will only have 1 of the 3 days out of school on a visit
- Simplifying the process so that there is no longer a booklet of choices which have in the post led to disappointment. All pupils in each year group are given the same 3 day programme.
Please see the overview of the programme below for each year group.
| Monday 29th June | Tuesday 30th June | Wednesday 1st July | |
