Karolina wins the Year 10 Rotary Young Chef Competition
The judges said that all of the dishes were outstanding and that the pupils had really pushed themselves.
They thought that Karolina’s was restaurant standard.
Mrs Bradley was really proud that the pupils had risen to the challenge.
Well done to all the participants – Karolina, Charlotte, Harry, Izzy and Lewis.
Karolina dazzled the judges and won the title with warm chicken livers salad, hake with mussels, leek & chorizo sauce & chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream.
Charlotte created smoked mackerel pâté with melba toast, lamb steak with potato balls, pea purée & salsa dressing & cheese cake with ginger biscuits, a rose jelly & a side of watermelon & strawberry salad.
Harry made chicken liver pâté with a red onion relish, steak mushroom & ale pie with a suet crust, seasonal veg & cubed potatoes & lemon cheesecake with a flaked chocolate topping.
Izzy made smoked salmon pâté with fresh sourdough rye bread, nana’s chicken Thai curry with naan bread & basmati rice & raspberry & lemon cheesecake with a raspberry coulis.
Lewis made chicken Yom yum gai soup, pork, chilli & basil Thai curry with jasmine rice & coconut balls for dessert.
