Year 10 took part in their Mock interview Day this half term.
Professionals from a range of career areas and colleges kindly gave up their time to act as the interviewers for our pupils. We had representatives from the world of law, finance, IT, the RAF, Daisy Technology, Silent Night, NHS, human resources, Management Consultancy, BAE, Craven College, Burnley College, Nelson and Colne College, Myerscough College and Blackburn College.
In preparation , Year 1o attended a workshop run by Sarah Holland from Lancashire Forum to help them fine tune their interview skills.
It was great for pupils to have some real interaction with the interviewers and therefore develop this most important skill to help them access opportunities in the future. Going for an interview can be nerve-wracking and Year 10 were apprehensive before the event. However, the chance to flex their interview skills gave them a confidence boost and a re-assurance of their abilities. They all left smiling and walking tall!
The Interviewees had nothing but praise for our pupils.
Here are some of the glowing comments by our Interviewers:
“Wonderful young people who are a credit to your lovely school!”
“It was great to meet the talent of tomorrow!”
“All the pupils took it seriously and made an effort with their CVs and Certificates.”
“I enjoyed engaging with the next generation and seeing them excited about their future.”
“If they were going for a real job, I would definitely consider them!”
“Their ability to express themselves clearly about their plans for the future were amazing.”
Well done Year 10 and thankyou to the interviewers for giving their time to help Year 10 improve their employability skills.
Mrs Burns
