Pupils have raised over £200 from a raffle for Build Africa Foundation. Molly Nock from Year 7 won the raffle prize to start the demolition of the old school building.

Build Africa UK is a UK based Charity which works in remote areas of Kenya and Uganda, combining education and livelihood projects which provide children and their families with the opportunities to live more fulfilled lives. Their aim is not only to support the schools and communities where they work, but to develop a model which can continue working without us.

Bowland English teacher Andrew Fletcher, who helped pupils organise the raffle said: ‘the pupils in my Year 11 PSHE class came up with the great idea to raise money for Build Africa using the slogan We Knock Down Ours to Build Theirs Up. The pupils wanted to use the momentous event of demolishing the old school building to help raise money for fellow pupils in Uganda and Kenya.’
