Year 9 Maths group spend the day working out a ropey problem!

The maths department wanted to show pupils that they are surrounded by maths every day in all situations and surroundings. The day was an opportunity for pupils to put into practice some of the things that they had learnt in year 9. Pupils had to calculate the volume of cylinders 11 metres above the ground that they climbed through as well as firing arrows at targets containing algebraic expressions.

Following the trip, one parent contacted the department directly to say that their son had thoroughly enjoyed the trip and that they now realised that “maths was everywhere.”
