U16’s Boys District Badminton Event
An excellent day at the u16s boys district badminton event with outstanding performances by both the A and B teams.
The A team consisted: Will J, Archie K, Freddie S, and Toby F
Whilst the B team involved: Lucas HS, Toby M, Owain IW, and Spencer H
The squads also involved Tom Y and Hayden G as reserves.
Both teams qualified from their respective group stage games unbeaten, with the A team winning matches vs St Augustine’s A, Ribblesdale and Mt Carmel A, whilst the B team defeated CRGS B, Oakhill A and St Augustine’s A.
In the quarter finals, Bowland B were drawn against Ribblesdale, winning 4 of their 5 games to progress to the semi finals where they were beaten by the eventual winners St Christopher’s.
In our other 1/4 final, the A team won comfortably and progressed to the semi-final. The A team showed resilience to come through against a good CRGS A team, winning by 3 games to 2 and therefore the overall match.
In a repeat of the 2019 final, Bowland’s A team pitted their wits against a strong St Christopher’s team. With the match finely balanced at 2 games each, it went down to the 5th and final game of the match which St Christopher’s won by 11 points to 6. Nevertheless, the boys can be proud of their achievements with impressive performances throughout the day. The A team should be especially pleased as the overall winners of the Ribble Valley schools.
Unfortunately, along with the winners St Christopher’s, our A team will not get not an opportunity to participate in the Lancashire finals due to COVID precautions. However, a huge well done to all involved.
