Tullia Is Presented with a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award

Ex-Bowlander Tullia, was presented with a gold Duke of Edinburgh award in London recently.

Mrs Emmanuel, Tullia’s mum who is our librarian here at Bowland describes their day.

We had an amazing day at St James’ Palace in London where we were lucky to meet Paul Ainsworth and hear his journey to success. Tullia also got to meet Prince Edward whilst he chatted with a small group of fellow Gold Award winners. It was all worth the nights of camping in the rain, blisters from all the walking and volunteering to help the RSPB for a week in the middle of nowhere in awful conditions. Paul said all the qualities needed for the Gold DofE are exactly what he looks for on a CV. Tullia and I also believe the award helped towards her getting a place to study Veterinary Medicine at Nottingham.

So we would like to say a big thank you to the staff at Bowland that helped and organised the Bronze and Silver awards. We really appreciate everything you did and continue to do.
