The Way of the Roses

Over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, twenty three cyclists will be riding the “Way of the Roses”, a 170 mile route from Morecambe to Bridlington. The riders consist of parents and staff from Bowland High who are completing the ride in order to raise funds for an all-weather pitch at the Grindleton school.

A number of local sponsors are generously supporting the coast to coast ride as well as parents and pupils. The photo shows some of the group out in “all weather” at the top of the “Cross of Greet” on one of their training rides.

Headteacher, Stephen Cox commented, “It is fantastic that so many colleagues and parents are involved in the ride, many of whom have never completed this type of challenge before. We are very grateful to those organisations that are supporting us in this venture and the generosity of everyone who has pledged support.

We are over halfway in raising the funding for an all-weather facility for sports at Bowland and this event will get us even closer to our target.“ The school is still looking for further support and anyone interested can either contact the school via enquiries@bowlandhigh.lancs.sch.uk
