Ski Trip to Italy

27 pupils and 4 teachers spent half term skiing in Pila in the Aosta Valley, Italy. Pupils skied in 3 groups – beginners, intermediates and advanced, according to their prior experience. Conditions were excellent throughout the week, with 3 days of clear blue skies and superb snow on the ground.

The beginners group impressed their instructor hugely and reached levels well beyond previous beginners groups from school. The intermediates also impressed their Italian instructor, especially with their ability to perform tricks and jumps in the snow park, which seemed a favourite destination each day. The advanced group comprised some of the most talented skiers Bowland has ever had and conquered all of the challenges Pila has to offer, including the daunting ‘Wall’ black run. Two members of this group were graded by their instructor at the highest level of 5 stars at the end of the week.

The pupils were a delight to take away and exhibited very high standards of behaviour throughout the week, encouraging each other at all times, as well as being good fun. Particular thanks to Miss Yates for her organisation of an excellent trip, which I am sure, will form a key memory of school for everybody who participated.
