IT Opportunities in the NHS

All major employers have a wealth of different career opportunities that are not always obvious.

As part of National Careers Week Robert Barton came to Bowland High to chat to pupils about IT career opportunities within the NHS. Robert gave a general overview of the diversity of careers within the NHS but with a focus on IT (Networking/cyber-security/software development/audit/information governance and GDPR/virtualisation methodologies.

Flavours Cookery School

Louise from Flavours Cookery School in Whalley came in at lunchtime to meet pupils to talk about setting up a small business and also the career opportunities within the food Industry.  This new small business is offering a variety of classes such as Early Morning Bakers, Seasonal Cooking and Family Feast Night.

Louise had interest from pupils from across the school years, especially those taking hospitality and catering.

Call the Midwife!”

One of the most traditional careers in the NHS was spotlighted on the Friday of National Careers Week. Louise Marsden came into school to speak to pupils about her career journey as a midwife.

Several pupils are interested in this career path and Louise was able to give them some useful advice and share her experience with them.
