Lockers

All pupils at Bowland must use a locker to store books and personal possessions. Lockers should only be visited before school, at break, lunchtime and at the end of the day. Pupils, including prefects, should not visit lockers in between lessons. Nothing should be left on top of the lockers; it is in danger of being thrown away or retained by the Headteacher.

Pupils are expected to rent a locker key at the beginning of their time at Bowland High which will cover the five years they will be with us; this covers the cost of maintenance but not vandalism. Currently the cost is £10.00. Pupils are expected to keep their locker clean and in good working order. Pupils are responsible for any damage caused to their locker and will be charged accordingly for repairs. It is therefore important to report it immediately to pupil services if a pupil’s locker is damaged by another pupil.

If the key is lost and it has to be replaced, there will be an additional charge of £4.50, payable via Scopay. It is advisable to have a spare key cut to keep at home in the event that the original is lost.

Pupil services staff can unlock lockers in the case of an emergency; however this will incur a small charge (currently £1 payable via Scopay). Pupil services staff and site supervisors will regularly inspect lockers and have been instructed to keep them locked at all times.

Pupil Leaders trade their locker for a Sports Hall locker when Y11 depart. The locks on these require a £1.00 coin for door operation; therefore the locks and keys are more sophisticated. New locks cost £40.00 and there is no master key, so Pupil Leaders are asked to be especially careful when using their lockers.
