Group of the Season

22 March, 2012

A group of 29 pupils and 3 staff from School travelled with Interski to the Aosta Valley in February half term 2012. This trip is a popular, annual event for Year 10 pupils as part of the school enrichment programme.

Every year, approximately 250 schools travel out to the Aosta Valley in Italy with Interski to enjoy a week on the slopes.

About 10 years ago, Interski, set up a system to reward groups of young people for demonstrating good behaviour, enthusiasm and sporting conduct on their trips abroad.

Every Interski hotel is asked to nominate one school that has been exceptional over the course of the season. This choice is decided based on politeness and manners around the hotel, respect for the hotel and the hotel staff and general demeanour. Once the hotels have all nominated their exceptional school, the best overall group is selected centrally by Interski.

Bowland are thrilled to have received the award and the £1000 prize that accompanies it. All of the pupils who were involved in the visit have received a goody bag from Interski.

Mr Cox stated “I am immensely proud of our pupils, we have high expectations of behaviour in school and when our youngsters represent Bowland elsewhere. Bowland staff always place a high importance on good manners and courtesy and I know the staff team who escorted this group to Italy feel that they richly deserve the recognition this award gives them. It is great that companies such as Interski have such schemes to reward this aspect of a school visits.”
