Year 9 Beat Off 30 Competing teams to Win the 'Engineering Because' Competition
Two Year 9 teams took part in the Engineering Because competition held at Nelson and Colne College recently.
The challenge was to design and build a crane to lift and transport a weight over a gap to a ship and deposit the weight. Everything was provided, but teams could buy extra equipment using ‘college dollars’.
Points were awarded for: teamwork and organisation as well as design and analysis.
Producing a portfolio with drawings and working sketches, teams had to show why they had chosen their final design and then the judges tested the build quality of the finished crane.
Congratulations to Levi, Freddie, Ben and Tom who beat off 30 competing teams to win the competition.
